Closing Premier League’s Matchday 9, Sheffield United and Arsenal faced each other at the Bramall Lane Stadium this Monday. Once again, the Gunners played poorly and confirmed their English Premier League irregularity by losing 1-0 at Sheffield United. The winning goal was scored by Frenchman Lys Mousset.
With the result, the North-London team remains with 15 points, in fifth place, two behind Chelsea and Leicester, while the home team, Sheffield, surprisingly reached 12, in ninth place. I mean, Sheffield is better than Man United. Who would’ve thought…
Despite staying longer with the ball, Arsenal had no inspiration in their attack and still suffered from Sheffield’s counterattacks. This was Arsenal’s ninth defeat in their last 18 away games for the English.
The only goal of the game was scored by Frenchman Lys Mousset, 30 minutes into the first half. It came out from a defensive failure from Arsenal’s defender, who allowed Mousset to control the ball inside the 6-yard box and slot home past Bernd Leno.
For Arsenal fans, this Arsenal side looks like Arsene Wenger’s team, so basically nothing has changed. Unai Emery has proved himself to be a spender and did not really bring the evolution, and even the revolution the Gunners are in need of. I mean, Arsenal spent so much on players like Pepe, and he can’t even score goals. All he did was to “dribble” past Virgil van Dijk. That’s simply not enough for an 80 million euro striker. Emery will have to rethink his tactics and make this Arsenal improve.
The London team will return to play on Thursday, when they will receive Vitoria de Guimaraes, for the UEFA Europa League. And on Sunday, also as hosts, they will face Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. A day earlier, Sheffield will visit West Ham.
