The last matchday of the Premier League happened this Sunday and matches happened across the country. At the Turf Moor, Burnley welcomed Brighton for a match that was not that important, as both teams weren’t fighting for anything. The game ended on a 2-1 victory for the Seagulls, with goals from Yves Bissouma and Aaron Connoly. Chris Wood diminished for the hosts.
The first half started slow-paced and even, with the hosts having a little more the ball than their opponents. However, the visitors were the ones to break the deadlock, at the 20th minute. Bissouma took advantage of a rebound to control and score a stunner from 20 yards out, with no chances to the great goalkeeper Nick Pope.
After suffering the goal, the Clarets started to put pressure onto the visitors, searching for an equalizer. They were able to get it before the half-time, at the 44th minute. After a wicked delivery from defender Erik Pieters, Wood put the ball into the back of the net to level the match.
The second half started and it didn’t take long until there was another goal in the game. Already at the 10th minute, Frenchman Maupay found Conolly, who was able to round the defense and send the ball under goalkeeper Pope and into the back of the net.
The hosts even had more the ball after that but were not able to create good chances nor shots on target. With that, the match ended 2-1 to the visitors.
The result didn’t change much for them, as they were already confirmed on next season’s Premier League and were not fighting a place in European Competitions. So, Burnley finished the season in 10th place, which showed the good season of the Clarets, with a total of 54 points. Meanwhile, Brighton reached 41 points, finishing in 15th place.
