Juventus hosted Bologna this Saturday at the Juventus Stadium on Matchday 8 in the Italian Serie A. Following a good win over Inter Milan in the previous Matchday, the Old Lady kept up with the good rhythm and beat the visitors 2-1, thanks to goals scored by Pjanic and Cristiano Ronaldo. Danilo scored the consolation for Bologna.
Juventus performed better and showed themselves as the brightest side early in the first half. However, even despite the number of chances created, Maurizio Sarri’s team just broke the halt on 19 minutes. Alex Sandro found Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Portuguese star put in a good solo play to open the scoring. 1-0 Juve.
However, 7 mins later, Bologna responded. Defender Danilo got the ball down the left inside the area and fired home in a classy way, almost as if he was a striker to level things at the Juventus Stadium. 1-1.
Juve tried to retake the lead in the first half but wasted their chances.
Everything changed following half-time though. Juventus pressed Bologna in the first minutes into the second half and did not take long to score. Pjanic capitalized on a poor ball from the Bologna defender and struck a beautiful finish into the back of the net to make it 2-1 Juve on 54 mins.
After the goal, Juve did not suffer, and it seemed like it would be an easy win, but in the final minutes, they had to count on Gianluigi Buffon to pull out a good save that avoided the draw at home.
Following the 2-1 victory, Juve keeps leading the Italian Serie A and can open up to four points at the top over Internazionale, who will still play on this Matchday against Sassuolo, away from home. Bologna is the 10th at the moment. On the next Matchday in the Serie A, Juventus will travel to Lecce on Saturday at Via Del Mare. Bologna will host Sampdoria on Sunday.
