This Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Real Madrid hosted Galatasaray in the Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League Group Stages clash. The merengues counted on the Brazilian sauce of Rodrygo to beat the Turks 6-0. In a great exhibition, Rodrygo scored three goals and got the ball home. Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema, twice, scored the other ones.
With the result, Real Madrid is within a victory from advancing to the knockout stages of the competition. They count on 7 points and are on 2nd place in Group A, which is led by Paris Saint Germain, with 12 points. On the next matchday, both sides will face each other at the Bernabeu, on November 26.
Real Madrid showed an imperial football and massacred Galatasaray from minute one. Rodrygo ran the show, and within 6 mins, he scored twice. The first one, on 4 mins, as he connected with Marcelo’s cross, controlled the ball, rounded a defender and fired at the corner. 1-0 Real.
Two mins later, after a good collective play, Marcelo was once again the provider, as he fed his young countryman, Rodrygo, who nodded home. 2-0.
Real Madrid did not cease and went on to score the third goal right away. 11 minutes in, Toni Kroos dribbled past N’Zonzi at the edge of the box and was brought down. The referee awarded the hosts a penalty, which Sergio Ramos took and scored. 3-0.
The hosts got to the fourth still in the first half. On 45, Nagatomo’s poor pass was intercepted by Rodrygo, who assisted Benzema, who just tapped in. 4-0.
With a large advantage built in the first half, Real Madrid played enough to score twice more on the fragile Turk defense. Zinedine Zidane made some subs, subbing off Casemiro and Hazard for Modric and Isco.
On 81, Carvajal advanced down the right and fed Benzema, who scored his 50th UCL goal with the Madrid jersey. He’s only behind legends Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo. On 90+1, Rodrygo went on to make history, as he combined a give-and-go with Benzema, got face to face with Muslera, and fired at the corner. He became the youngest player to score a perfect hat trick in the competition.
At the end of the match, Rodrygo was applauded by Madrid supporters and got the ball home. He showed a good connection with Benzema, and a good personal performance as well. If he keeps going at this pace, he can become something else in Madrid.
