For matchday 32 of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig welcomed Fortuna Dusseldorf. After opening a 2-0 lead, the hosts saw the visitors get the equalizer and left the field with a 2-2 draw that surely felt like a win for the away side. Kevin Kampl and Timo Werner scored for Leipzig, while Steven Skrzybski and Adre Hoffmann scored for Fortuna.
During the first half, the home side showed their domination. However, the match was not exciting and there weren’t many chances created. Both sides were trying, with the hosts arriving more at the attacking field, but the few opportunities they created were lost. With that, they went to the locker room still goalless.
In the second half, things got more interesting and the goals finally appeared. At the 60th minute, Leipzig broke the deadlock after a good play form Kampl. The number 44 shot from outside the box and hit the top-right corner of goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier.
Then, 3 minutes later, they doubled the scoring. After Marcel Halstenberg’s assist, Werner sent a strong shot on the far post, giving no chances for Fortuna’s goalkeeper.
We all thought that the hosts would leave with the 3 points, but that’s not what happened. In the final minutes, Dusseldorf decided to attack and were able to level up the scoring. Their first goal came at the 87th minute, with Skrzybski. Then, already at the injury time, at 90+2, Hoffmann managed to overcome with a header and guarantee at least one point for the visitors.
With another draw, RB Leipzig remains in the 3rd place, now with 63 points. Fortuna Dusseldorf. Their next match will be a difficult one, against the second place, Borussia Dortmund, next Saturday. On the other hand, reach 29 points, in 16th place, still fighting against relegation. Also on Saturday, they will welcome Augsburg, trying to get more points and avoid going to the second league.
