A situation that seemed almost certain, seemed to take a turnaround at Paris Saint-Germain. We are talking about Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who had taken his exit from the French club for granted before the whole situation that struck the world, and now might stay at least for another season.

As a result, the defender frustrates the plans of his former clubs, AC Milan and Fluminense, who were trying to sign the star.

With a contract until the end of the season, the player was waiting to come to an agreement with PSG managers regarding a possible contract extension. Initially, the 35-year-old was expecting a new contract for at least two years.

Following a lot of deceptions in his career, the player’s intention is to be competing in high-level competitions to arrive in conditions to play in the next World Cup with the Brazilian national team.

It could be his last World Cup, and, unfortunately, in Brazil, all he’s remembered for so far is to be the captain of that Brazilian team who got mauled 7-1 by Germany at home in a World Cup semifinal, even though he didn’t play that game, a fact that makes Brazilians dislike him, as he as the captain received a silly yellow card in the quarterfinal against Colombia, which took him off the decisive match.

However, PSG didn’t really show interest in the defender’s permanence, since the club’s idea is to make a reformulation in the squad. As a result, the priority in the sector was the renovation of Tanguy Kouassi, a 17-year-old who gained space this season.

However, with the Coronavirus outbreak, and the probable difficulty and decrease of values in the market, the Parisians wanted to count on Thiago Silva again.

At the age of 35, Thiago Silva has 310 games for PSG and is considered a legendary player within the current squad. He won the French Ligue 1 six times, Four times the French Cup, and seven times the French Super Cup.

He may be an important piece in the squad, mainly because of his experience. Despite everything, he’s always been loyal to the clubs he’s played at and deserves an extension for everything he did at PSG.
