After a terrible end of the season, and some problematic statements from his agent, Mauro Icardi finally got out of Internazionale. TheArgentine striker has reached an agreement with French club PSG and will play for the Parisians for at least one season, on loan from Inter. Yet according to the reports, Paris Saint-Germain will be able to buy the 26-year-old Argentine striker in July 2020 for about € 70 million.
Icardi will become PSG’s number 18 and will share the dressing room with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, and his countryman, Di Maria. The Argentine striker seemed to be happy, and grateful to PSG for the given opportunity:
– I would like to thank PSG for the trust they showed in me. I will give everything to help my new team go as far as possible in all competitions. Paris has become a powerhouse of international football, attracting some of the biggest players in recent years. The ambitions are high and I’m sure we have everything here to go even further. I am really looking forward to playing at the Parc des Princes, a stadium famous for its beauty and passion – said the new number 18.
At Inter since 2013, Icardi was sidelined by coach Antonio Conte and, pretty honestly, there was no atmosphere nor climate for him to stay at Milano. The weirdest thing in all of his situation at Internazionale was that he had agreed on his contract extension with the Italian club, but a short time later, they had some problems regarding the Argentine behavior.
Also, in February this year, the athlete lost his captain armband after his wife and agent, Wanda Nara, criticized several Inter players.
But in general, it was a good move for all of the sides involved. Internazionale will not have to deal with Icardi for at least a year more, as PSG will have a good striker. We can also say that the signing was mainly given due to the recent injuries from both Mbappe and Cavani. Also due to the Neymar situation, who ended up staying at the French capital.
Maybe the only one who didn’t quite like the signing, or will have some problems, is the German manager, Thomas Tuchel. He will have a lot of problems to deal with the egos from Neymar, Cavani, Mbappe, and Icardi, for sure.
