This Wednesday, Pacos de Ferreira welcomed Belenenses for matchday 27 of Liga NOS. At the Estadio Capital do Movel, the hosts started behind in the scoring but were able to get the comeback and leave the field with a 2-1 win. Douglas Tanque’s goal and Thibang Phete’s own goal gave the victory to the Beavers, while Tiago Esgaio scored for the visitors.
Even though Pacos de Ferreira were the better side during the first half, it was Belenenses who broke the deadlock. Already at the 6th minute, Esgaio hit a shot from outside the box and put the ball into the back of the net.
Being behind on the scoring, the hosts became more present in the attacking field. However, they didn’t have that many opportunities to score, once they were having trouble with the visitors’ closed defense. Their best chances came trough shots from outside the box, but none of them made effect. Belenenses, on the other hand, just had one more good chance on the first half, with Mateo Cassierra hitting the post after a header.
As soon as the second half started, the home side had the perfect chance to get the equalizer. At the 49th minute, Castanheira was brought down inside the box by Ruben Lima, and Pacos de Ferreira were awarded a penalty. Brazilian Douglas Tanque stepped up and converted from the spot.
With the goal, the hosts felt more confident to keep on attacking and the threw themselves on Belenenses. The visitors were making a good job defending but were having trouble attacking. They just had one good chance in the second half, with a shot from outside the box.
After trying so much, Pacos de Ferreira finally found their second goal, already at the injury time. At 90+3, after a fast counter-attack, Phete ended up putting the ball into the back of his own net and giving the victory to the home team.
The three points were important to the Beavers, who are fighting against relegation. They are now with 28 points, in 16th place. Belenenses remain with the same 30 points, in 13th place.
