This Wednesday, Liga Nos finally came back after 90 days of stoppage due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For matchday 25, the first match was between Portimonense and Gil Vicente.
Behind closed doors, the Marafados took advantage of being at home and were able to get a 1-0 victory against the Gilistas. The only goal of the match was scored by Brazilian Lucas Fernandes.
During the first half, both sides were poor at the creation. The hosts were the ones to have the ball most part of the time, trying to get a positive result. However, they were only able to have one dangerous shot, with Emmanuel Hackman. The Ghanaian’s attempt stopped at goalkeeper Denis.
After some time, Gil Vicente started dominating the actions, being more assertive, and approaching the box. They’ve tried to break the deadlock with Yves Baraye, however, Portimonense’s goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda appeared to avoid the goal. Striker Sandro Lima also had his chance, but the ball went wide. With that, both teams went to the locker room with the initial draw on the scoring.
As soon as the second half started, things changed. At the 49th minute, Lucas Fernandes received from the left and hit a shot in the left corner, not giving chances for goalkeeper Denis. 1-0 Portimonense.
Behind on the scoring, the Gilistas started being more present in the attacking field. However, their attempts were not fiding the way to the goal. Baraye stopped at the defensive system, white Claude Goncalves stopped at goalkeeper Gonda.
If the match had a better technical level, there would probably be more goals. However, things didn’t change, despite Gil Vicente trying to score, and the match ended 1-0 to Portimonense.
With the victory, the Marafados get three valuable points in their desperate campaign to escape relegation, even though they remain in the 17th position. Gil Vicente stopped at 30 points and is now in the 10th position.
