The biggest winner in English Premier League history, Manchester United are still in bad form in the national tournament. On Premier League’s Matchday 8, the Red Devils visited Newcastle and lost 1-0 on Sunday.

The scorer of the home owners’ winning goal was English midfielder Matthew Longstaff, who was playing his first league game. What a star! The 19-year-old struck right after a good offensive action down the left flank in the second half and scored the winner.

With the result, Manchester United sits in the 12th position and has nine points, threatened by relegation. This is crazy. Tell anyone ten years ago that Man United would be anywhere close to relegation and they would send you to a sanatorium. But it looks like it’s going to happen, even though the Red Devils count on very expensive players. Is it Ole’s fault?

Whereas for Newcastle, the situation is no good either. They are struggling to remain in the Premier League, and reach eight points, taking advantage of the direct confrontation with the red team of Manchester. With the triumph, the team of Saint James Park is the 16th place.

This Sunday’s match was very even. But in a negative way. Both sides played extremely poorly. In the first half, the confrontation was more clinched and there were fewer chances of goal, with slight superiority for the visitors.

In the second half, the home side came back more efficiently on the counterattack and Newcastle’s proposal was awarded on 72 minutes.

That was when midfielder Allan Saint-Maximin pulled a quick counterattack down the middle. The Frenchman opened on the left for the Dutch wing Jetro Willems, who rolled for Longstaff who made the stadium erupts with a beautiful finish. 1-0 Newcastle.

In the final minutes, United pushed very hard for an equalizer, but still, they had little to none creativity, and zero organization. It turned out that Ole’s side lost another one.
