This Sunday, Napoli welcomed AC Milan for matchday 32 of the Serie A TIM. At the San Paolo Stadium, in the city of Naples, both teams shared points after a 2-2 draw. Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Dries Mertens scored for the hosts, while Theo Hernandez and Franck Kessie scored for the visitors.
The first half was basically controlled by the home team, with the visitors having a lot of difficulties to create opportunities. Being honest, Milan only had one shot on target during the whole first half… And it was exactly like that that they broke the deadlock. At the 20th minute, Ismael Bennacer received inside the box and crossed to Theo Hernandez, who sent a strong shot into the back of the net.
The Neapolitans were able to equalize the scoring still in the first half. At the 34th minute, Di Lorenzo took advantage of Gianluigi Donnaruma’s rebound after a free-kick to put the ball into the back of the net. With that, the teams went with a 1-1 draw to the half-time.
Napoli came back to the second half wanting the turnaround and they did it at the 60th minute. Jose Callejon sent a low cross to Mertens in the middle of the box and the number sent a strong shot under goalkeeper Donnaruma’s legs.
However, 13 minutes later, the Rossoneri had the perfect opportunity to equalize the scoring once again after Nikola Maksimovic brought Giacomo Bonaventura down inside the box. Kessie took the penalty and converted from the spot.
The visitors still had to finish the match with 10 players after Alexis Saelemaekers saw his second yellow card. However, even with more players, the hosts weren’t able to score again and the match ended with a 2-2 draw.
With this result, Napoli reached 52 points, in 6th place, just 2 points ahead of AC Milan, who reached 50 points in 7th place.
