This Wednesday, Brighton hosted Premier League Champions Liverpool at Falmer Stadium the League’s 34th game. After being given a class guard of honor, the Reds proved to be a harsh guest, as they punished hosts 3-1. Mohamed Salah scored twice, as captain Jordan Henderson grabbed his last goal of the season, as he sadly sustained a knee injury and is ruled out for the rest of the remaining season.
Following the 3-1 away win, the current Champions are closer to break the Premier League’s all-time points record. The current record is 100 points, and the Reds reached 92 with 12 points to go.
The game started with the visiting team pressing like the Premier League champions should do, and quickly, grabbed the game’s opener. On 5 minutes, Naby Keita capitalized on a poor pass from the Brighton keeper and passed it to Roberto Firmino, who let the ball go to Salah, who struck at the far corner.
Two minutes later, the Reds doubled their lead, as Salah got the ball down the right at the edge of the box, and passed it to captain Henderson, whose first-time effort shook the nets from distance. What a goal from Jordan!
At the end of the first half, Brighton responded through Trossard. Lamptey was triggered down the right and crossed it to Trossard, who struck a class half-volley from close-range at the back of the net of Alisson Becker.
After the break, Liverpool controlled most of the offensive actions, and on 76 they wrapped it up as Andrew Robertson connected with Salah from a corner, as the Egyptian striker headed home to make it three.
Liverpool’s next match is this Saturday at Anfield v Burnley, as Brighton will host Manchester City on the same day in the Premier League.
