This Sunday, Newcastle and Manchester City faced each other for the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. At Wembley Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s men got a 2-0 victory and qualified for the next round. Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling scored the goals of the match.

The Citizens started the game as they usually do, with a lot of intensity and with a high defensive line, putting pressure on their opponents and forcing mistakes. The early minutes were pretty difficult for the Magpies, who couldn’t leave their defensive field.

But even with all that dominance, City had difficulty to find the goal and were able to open the scoring only at the 37th minute, when they were awarded a penalty after Gabriel Jesus was brought down inside the box. De Bruyne stepped up and converted from the spot.

The second half was a little different. Of course, the Citizens kept on controlling the match, however, they weren’t creating as many opportunities as in the first 45 minutes. Honestly, in the early minutes, Newcastle were bringing more danger than Man City. Although it was not really enough to find an equalizer.

With time, the Blues from Manchester started attacking more and, at the 68th minute, were able to double their lead. Sterling received on the left and tried from outside the box, hitting the bottom-right corner. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow had no chance of saving it.

With the 2-0 victory, Manchester City qualified for the semifinals of the FA Cup, where they will face Arsenal. The other match of the semifinal will be between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Before that, however, both teams come back to the pitch in the middle of the week, for the next matchday of the Premier League. On Thursday, City will welcome Liverpool, who are already champions of the League. Newcastle will visit Bournemouth on Wednesday.
