Manchester City’s chase to Liverpool keeps up! This Saturday, Manchester City hosted Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium and had no problems to beat them 3-0 and keep dreaming in the Premier League. Raheem Sterling, David Silva, and Ilkay Gundogan scored the goals in City’s win and lowered the difference from them to Liverpool, who will still play in this 10th Matchday in the League.
Before the game, Manchester City had lost their second place to Leicester, who scored the biggest visitor defeat in Premier League history by putting down a humiliating 9-0 over Southampton at the opening of the Matchday on Friday.
Guardiola’s team has now 22 points, two more than Leicester, the third. Liverpool has 25, but the Reds will host Tottenham at Anfield this Sunday and can open up to six points clear on top once again. Aston Villa has 11 points and dropped down to 13th place.
The three goals of the match only came out in the second half. In the first half, City found it difficult to swing the nets. Man City kept attacking and reached the 2nd goal on 65 mins, through David Silva. Five mins later, Gundogan made it three and sealed the easy triumph of Pep Guardiola’s men.
In the end, on 87, Fernandinho was sent off after getting the second yellow for preventing a counterattack from Aston Villa. But surely it wasn’t enough for Villa to try something, as there was no much time left.
