This Wednesday, Wolverhampton welcomed Bournemouth for matchday 31 of the Premier League. At the Molineux Stadium, the hosts got a 1-0 victory and kept their good campaign. The only goal of the match was scored by Raul Jimenez.
The first half itself already announced the match script, although the first chance was for the visitors. After that, the Wolves took control of the game, but it didn’t mean that they created much. Honestly, the best chance of the first 45 minutes was only at the 33rd minute, with Adama Traore, who stopped in goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The truth was that the hosts were having great difficulties to create the plays and attack, and that results in basically no risks to the visitors.
The beginning second half was a little different. The home club still controlled the match, but they started having more chances of shots. And then, at the 60th minute, they finally broke the deadlock. After a beautiful play from Traore on the right, the number 37 crossed to the box and found Jimenez. Obviously the number 9 didn’t miss the chance and put the ball into the back of the net, opening the scoring.
After that, things went basically to what it was during the first 45 minutes. The Wolves had the control but didn’t really create that much, while the Cherries didn’t have the ball nor chances to actually try to equalize the scoring. With that, the match ended 1-0 to the hosts.
With the victory, Wolverhampton keeps on fighting for a place in next season’s Europa League, or even in Champions League depending on City’s penalty. The Wolves have 49 points and are in 6th place. Bournemouth, on the other hand, still fight against relegation, with just 27 points, the same amount of Aston Villa and West Ham, in 18th place.
