This Tuesday, Barcelona welcomed Leganes for matchday 29 of La Liga. At Camp Nou, the three points went to the hosts after a 2-0 victory. Ansu Fati and Lionel Messi scored for the Catalan club.
Both clubs entered the field with changes. It was clear that they wanted to test other options and also save players for the next matchday. The first dangerous play in the first half came from the visitors, in a quick counter-attack. Eraso received a long pass and shot, Ter Stegen saved badly and Miguel Angel Guerrero got the rebound. The goal just didn’t happen because of Clement Lenglet.
After that, the away side began to arrive frequently at the Cule’s box, bringing more and more danger to Ter Stegen’s goal.
Barca took some time to finally gain control of the game. When they did, they started to seek spaces against a solid defense, and after trying so much, they broke the deadlock at the 42nd minute. Ansu Fati sent a low shot in the bottom-right corner and put the ball into the back of the net.
The second half started as the first finished, with Barcelona dominating the ball and Leganes waiting for possible counter-attacks. Trying to change things, Quique Setien decided to bring Luis Suarez for Ansu Fati. With that, the hosts got more aggressive in the attack.
At the 64th minute, Barcelona scored again, with Antoine Griezmann, but after VAR checking, the goal was ruled out. However, 10 minutes later, the Catalan club had the perfect opportunity to double their scoring, when the referee awarded them a penalty after Messi was brought down inside the box. The Argentine himself stepped up and converted from the spot.
With the 2-0 victory, Barcelona remains in the 1st place, now with 64 points. Leganes, on the other hand, remain in the last position, with only 23 points, but still fighting against relegation.
