Erling Braut Haaland was the biggest surprise of this European season, and shortly after standing out last year wearing the jersey of Austria’s RB Salzburg in the Austrian League and in the UEFA Champions League, he made his way to Borussia Dortmund back in January.
Playing for the Yellow & Black team, the Norwegian striker stood out right away, and critics and specialists said that Borussia Dortmund was probably “just a bridge” for Haaland to seek out bigger top-flight European clubs in the near future.
However, according to the Norwegian striker himself, it ain’t going to happen, as he isn’t happy with the way Dortmund’s season ended, as they were Bundesliga runners-up to Bayern Munich once again.
Thus, in an interview conceded to Germany’s “Funke” Haaland recalled that he recently arrived in the country and that he has a long time yet to fulfill his Borussia Dortmund contract, which goes until 2024.
Check out what the Borussia Dortmund’s youth had to say:
“I don’t think about those things (transference) and I also don’t think a lot about the future. I live in the present. Dortmund is one of the best clubs in the world, we signed a long-term contract and I just arrived. That’s why I don’t think about leaving the club ”, he revealed.
In fact, Erling Haaland’s numbers for the season are impressive. As a result, in RB Salzburg he’s averaged more than a goal per game as he scored 28 goals in 22 games. Meanwhile, at Dortmund, he scored 16 goals in 17 matches.
Analyzing raw numbers, he performed better at Salzburg, but we need to take into account that Borussia Dortmund’s rivals have a little bit more quality than Austrian clubs, who Haaland was used to face when he played there.
But this guy is pure class. He really wants to help Dortmund out to get to the next level.
