This Sunday, Espanyol welcomed Eibar for matchday 36 of La Liga. At Cornella-El Prat Stadium, the visitors were able to get a 2-0 victory and leave with the three points. Edu Exposito scored both goals of the match.
As soon as the first half started, Eibar already showed that they wanted to win the game. They threw themselves on the hosts and took control of the match during the early minutes. After 10 minutes, Espanyol were able to equalize the plays and create some opportunities as well. However, none of them were really able to threaten.
The visitors kept on being the brighter side, and at the 25th minute, they broke the deadlock. The referee awarded them a penalty because of Victor Gomez’s foul inside the box. Exposito stepped up and converted from the spot to open the scoring.
Still in the first half, at the 34th minute, Eibar were awarded another penalty, after a handball inside the box. Exposito stepped up again, but this time goalkeeper Diego Lopez made a good save. However, in the rebound, the number 10 put the ball into the back of the net and celebrated the second goal. With that, the visitors went to the locker room with a good lead.
The second half started a little different, with the hosts trying to take control of the attack in search of an equalizer. However, they once again couldn’t really bring danger to their opponents. On the other hand, Eibar obligated keeper Lopez to make some saves to avoid another goal.
The hosts kept trying until the last minute, but there wasn’t really any clear opportunity of scoring. Goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic didn’t even have to make any difficult save. And with that, the match ended 2-0 to the visitors.
With the victory, Eibar got more 3 points in the fight against relegation, being now with 39 points in the 15th place. Meanwhile, Espanyol remains in the last position, already relegated, with only 24 points.
