After a sequence of draws, RB Leipzig finally won again, and it was away from home. For matchday 31 of the Bundesliga, the Red Bulls faced Hoffenheim in the PreZero Arena and won by 2-0. Both goals were scored by Spaniard Dani Olmo.
As soon as the first half started, the home side already was already creating chances and bringing danger to Peter Gulacsi’s goal. At the 4th minute, after a long ball, Christoph Baumgartner left two markers on the floor but shot the ball wide. One minute later, Steven Zuber tried from outside the box but also missed the goal.
Then, at the 9th minute, on Leipzig’s first attack, they broke the deadlock. Nordi Mukiele found Olmo inside the box and the number 25 rounded two markers to open the scoring.
And 2 minutes later they doubled the scoring, again with the Spaniard. After a long ball from the defense, Marcel Sabitzer used his head to assist Olmo, who put the ball into the back of the net, with no chances to goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.
Hoffenheim even had chances during the first 45 minutes to at least put the difference in only one goal, however, the players lacked aim and when they didn’t, goalkeeper Gulacsi was there to save the visitors. Timo Werner also missed a goal that he usually wouldn’t. With that, RB Leipzig went to the half time with 2 goals ahead.
The second half was less rushed, but there were a lot of chances for both sides. During the first minutes, the home side were the ones attacking more and stopping at the hand of the good goalkeeper of Leipzig. Later, it was time for the visitors to create more and obligate goalkeeper Baumann to work a lot in order to avoid a probable trashing.
In the end, the scoring didn’t change. With the 2-0 victory, RB Leipzig remains in 3rd place, now with 62 points, 4 behind Borussia Dortmund. Hoffenheim remains in 7th place, with the same 43 points, 3 behind Wolfsburg.
