On Monday, Juventus welcomed Lazio for matchday 34 of the Serie A TIM. At the Allianz Stadium, the Old Lady counted with an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo to leave with the three points after a 2-1 victory over their opponents. The Portuguese star scored twice for the hosts, while Ciro Immobile diminished for the visitors.
The first half started with Juve trying to propose their way of playing since the early minutes, but finding difficulties to break through the Biancocelete’s defense. As time went by, the visitors started to equalize more the game, also having the ball and trying to create opportunities. Before the half-time, both sides were able to threaten their opponents’ goal, hitting the post on two different occasions.
The second half started with both teams fighting for space and trying to create chances. However, already at the 51st minute, the Old Lady had the perfect chance to break the deadlock, as the referee awarded them a penalty. Ronaldo stepped up and converted from the spot with great confidence.
The hosts didn’t stop after that and, 3 minutes later, were putting the ball into the back of the net once again. This time, Paulo Dybala passed the ball to the number 7, who didn’t miss the chance and doubled their lead.
The pressure kept on even after the second goal and Lazio had a lot of trouble stopping the great attack of Juve. It took them time to start attacking again and creating opportunities. They were only able to score at the end of the match when they were awarded a penalty. So, at the 83rd minute, Immobile stepped up and converted from the spot. However, it was too late for an equalizer, and the game ended 2-1 to the hosts.
With the victory, Juventus opened eight points of difference to the 2nd place, being now with 80 points. Meanwhile, Lazio are almost guaranteed in the Champions League next season, with 69 points, in 4th place.
