We’ll have a London Derby in the FA Cup Final! Following Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Man City yesterday in the first FA Cup semifinal, this Sunday, Chelsea went on and inflict Man United a 3-1 loss to make it to the FA Cup final! The Blues’ goals were scored by Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, and a Harry Maguire’s own goal. Guess how the Man United consolation goal came in? Obviously it came in a penalty taken by Bruno Fernandes.
Man United’s Spaniard keeper David De Gea was the Red Devils’ negative highlight, as his errors cost Man United a FA Cup Final spot. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s positive streak post-pandemic came to an end, but one thing that didn’t change was the penalties for Man United. I mean, they get at least one literally every game.
The Blues were the brightest side throughout the first half, and following some chances wasted, the deadlock was broken on 45+11. Yes, the referee gave 10 minutes of stoppage time, due to a Man United player who got injured.
Moments after the restart, De Gea fumbled a weak Mason Mount shot from outside of the box, as the Blues from Stamford Bridge opened a two-goal lead.
Later on, on 74 mins, Marcos Alonso’s cross was deflected off Harry Maguire, who ended up sending it to the back of the net.
Man United got their pen on 86, as Hudson-Odoi fouled Anthony Martial inside the box, and Fernandes scored from the spot to grab the Red Devils’ consolation.
The FA Cup final between London sides Arsenal and Chelsea will take place at Wembley, on August 1st. Until then, Man United and Chelsea will indirectly duel again, as both sides fight for a UCL spot in the next season, as there are two games to go in the Premier League.
