Celta Vigo welcomed Alaves this Saturday for matchday 30 of La Liga. At Balaidos Stadium, the hosts didn’t take pity of their opponents and mauled Alaves 6-0, leaving with the pitch with the three points. Goals from Jeison Murillo, Iago Aspas, Rafinha, who scored twice, Nolito, and Santi Mina guaranteed the thrash.

Since the early minutes of the first half, Celta made it clear that they wanted the victory. With just 14 minutes into the game, they already broke the deadlock with Murillo. After a beautiful cross from Denis Suarez, the number 21 headed into the back of the net to open the scoring.

7 minutes later, they were given the chance to double the scoring after a handball inside the box. Iago Aspas stepped up to take the penalty and converted from the spot.

And things just got worse and worse for Alaves. At the 27th minute, still in the first half, Martin Aguirregabiria saw a straight red card after a hard challenge on Rafinha Alcantara. With one player less, they just couldn’t stop the home side, which scored two more goals before the half-time.

At the 40th minute, Rafinha tried from outside the box and hit a beautiful shot into the back of the net, making the third. And just one minute later, the Brazilian’s volley gave no chances to goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez.

In the second half, we saw a more competitive game, however, the scoring was already 4-0. And, if it wasn’t for goalkeeper Roberto, the difference could be even bigger, once he was saving the visitors during the early minutes of the second half. And being honest, even with the number of goals taken, he was the best player of Alaves on the pitch.

The away club even tried to score their consolation goal and had a good chance when Oliver Burke went face to face with Ivan Villar. However, the goalkeeper made a good save and avoided the “goal of honor”.

Close to the end of the match, keeper Roberto was not able to stop Celta’s attack anymore and the hosts were able to swing the net two more times. First, at the 78th minute, when they were awarded another penalty and Nolito converted from the spot. Then, at 86th minute, Santi Mina gave final numbers to the match, with the amazing 6-0 trash.

With the victory, Celta Vigo reached 30 and is now in 16th place. On the other hand, Alaves dropped to 13th place, with the same 35 points.
