This Saturday, at Braga Municipal Stadium, the home team welcomed Boavista for matchday 26 of the Portuguese League. Even though Braga had more shots and a higher ball possession, the visitors were the ones to leave with the three points, on a simple 1-0 victory. The only goal of the match was scored by Alberto Bueno, from the penalty spot.
The first half started with both teams moving a lot and trying to assert dominance. Boavista were the first ones to get to the attack, five minutes after the starting whistle, with a good play on the right that obligated goalkeeper Matheus to make a good save.
After that, Braga took control of the game. They started creating more and, at the 15th minute, gave their first shot to the goal, which goalkeeper Helton Leite saved without problems.
As the half time approached, both sides slowed the pace until the break. With that, they went to the locker room without any goals.
The second half started with Braga once again going to the attack. The hosts were focusing on aerial moves, crossing balls into the box to see if they got something. However, most times the defenders of Boavista cleared it.
The match would probably finish with a draw if it wasn’t for Ricardo Esgaio. At the 56th minute, the number 47 brought Cassiano down inside the box and gave the visitors the perfect chance to break the deadlock. Alberto Bueno stepped up and, one minute later, converted from the spot, sending the goalkeeper to the wrong side.
The home side still tried to go full attack and had some shots, but without success. The match ended 1-0 for the away side.
With the victory, Boavista went to 32 points, now in the 10th place. On the other hand, Braga remained in the 3rd place, with the same 46 points.
