This Saturday, Barcelona visited Osasuna on La Liga’s Matchday 3. Barcelona sent a very mixed up team to face Osasuna away and ended up with only one point in the 2-2 draw at the El Sadar Stadium.
Even with a superb squad, and maybe with more star players than the Real Galacticos, the Messidependence is something real at Barcelona! If the Argentine is not playing, it’s almost sure that the Catalan club will have a hard time even against mid-table sides as Osasuna.
The hosts opened the scoring early in the first half, on 7 minutes. After a cross from the right, the unmarked Roberto Torres received at the far post and fired home a first-time effort. What a goal from him. 1-0 Osasuna.
Even after the goal, the home team continued to keep the ball in the attacking half, while Barcelona went all defense. However, the first half ended up with no more goals.
After the interval, Barca’s manager Ernesto Valverde introduced the 16-year-old Fati, in place of Nelson Semedo, and the sub was worth it. It took the young boy only five minutes into the second half to make his impact. He capitalized on a cross, arouse higher than anyone, and headed home scoring his first goal for Barcelona. 1-1.
Barca grew into the game after the equalizer and completed the come back on 63 minutes. Brazilian Arthur robbed the ball in the attacking half, adjusted his body to the right leg, and fired home to put Barca ahead. 1-2.
When everything seemed to be heading for a Catalan victory, however, the whole scenario changed. On 79 minutes, after a cross in the box, the ball deflected off Pique’s arm, as the referee awarded Osasuna the penalty. Torres stepped up and showed class to convert and to level the match. 2-2.
Following the 2-2 draw, Osasuna surprisingly appears in the 4th position in La Liga, with five points. Barca is the 5th, with only four points. Due to the International break, Barcelona will only be back in action on Saturday, 14/09, at home, against Valencia. Osasuna, on the same day, visits Real Valladolid, in La Liga.
