In the fierce fight for the leadership of La Liga, Barcelona went to the Basque Country to easily beat Eibar 3-0 for Matchday 9 of the competition this Saturday. And finally their magical, yet expensive trio worked out as Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, and Luis Suarez scored the goals that gave the triumph to Barcelona.

With the 3-0 victory – the fourth in a row – the Catalan team reached 19 points, putting pressure on Real Madrid, who is on 18 and will still play away against Mallorca this Saturday. The two biggest rivals are still closely followed by the surprising Granada, on 17 points and Atletico Madrid, on 15 points.

Even without the striker Ousmane Dembele and the defender Pique, Barcelona had already kicked-off the game imposing themselves on the pitch at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium. With Brazilian Arthur and especially Dutchman De Jong – who had a great performance – seeking to lead many of the midfield actions, Barcelona took the lead with a long ball.

After 12 minutes, defender Lenglet picked out Griezmann as the Frenchman rounded De Blasis, and killed any hopes of saving from the goalkeeper in a beautiful touch home. 0-1 Barca.

The early goal conceded apparently did not shake the home team, who kept having the ball. Thus, the second goal in the match only came out in the second half. And it was for Barcelona. On 58 minutes, Suarez received the ball, played with Griezmann, who was smart to trigger Messi, who was running unmarked down the left. The best in the world received the pass and tapped into the corner to double the lead. 0-2 Barcelona.

To complete the Catalans’ categorical victory, on 66 mins, Griezmann was once again the architect and passed it to Messi. The Argentine striker got himself face to face against the keeper, but unselfishly fed Suarez, who just tapped into the empty goal. 0-3 Barcelona.

Finally a good display from the deadly trio. After what happened in the UEFA Champions League last season, in the so-called Anfield nightmare, Barcelona fans need to see some good football, mainly coming from the MSG trio. The future may be bright if these three can match and score goals on a regular basis.
