This Saturday Arsenal welcomed Manchester City for the semifinals of the FA Cup. At the Wembley Stadium, the Gunners finally won against the Citizens and guaranteed their place on the great final after a 2-0 victory. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored both goals of the match.
As expected, the visitors started the first half seeking control of the game and they even acquired it, having more the ball during the first 45 minutes. However, the hosts were more dangerous, obligating goalkeeper Ederson to make some good saves to avoid the goal in the early minutes.
The Brazilian keeper, who was playing well, was not enough to avoid Arsenal’s goal still before half-time. At the 19th minute, Nicolas Pepe found Aubameyang and the Gabonese put the ball into the back of the net to break the deadlock.
Being behind in the scoring, Pep Guardiola tried to make some subs already at the beginning of the second half. It didn’t change much how his team was playing. Man City kept having more the ball and controlling the plays, but not really being able to threaten the goal of Emiliano Martinez.
On the other hand, the Gunners were having a little more trouble to get to the attack. However, once again, they were efficient. On their only shot on target during the second half, they were able to double their lead. At the 71st minute, Aubameyang appeared again to hit into the back of the goal and guarantee his team’s victory.
With that, Arsenal, who are the most-time champions of the FA Cup, will have the chance to fight for their 14th tittle of the competition against Chelsea. The Blues beat Manchester United on the other semifinal match. Meanwhile, Manchester City will focus on the final of the Premier League and also in the Champions League.
