This Sunday, Napoli welcomed SPAL for matchday 28 of Serie A TIM. At the San Paolo Stadium, the Neapolitans got the three points with a good 3-1 victory over their opponents. Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon, and Amin Younes scored for the hosts. Andrea Petagna scored the consolation for the visitors.

As soon as the first half started, the home team was already breaking the deadlock. At the 4th minute, Fabian Ruiz found Mertens inside the box and the number 14 sent the ball under goalkeeper Karlo Letica and into the back of the net. First, the goal was ruled out for an offside position, however, after the VAR check, they confirmed the Belgian was in condition.

After the goal, the Azzurri didn’t stop attacking, having total control of the match. But then, on their first opportunity on the match, at the 29th minute, SPAL found their equalizer. After a fast counter-attack, Petagna received inside the box and hit a first-time effort with not chances for goalkeeper Alex Meret.

They didn’t have much time to celebrate, once 7 minutes later, Napoli were taking the lead once again. After receiving a cross inside the box, Callejon controlled the ball and hit it in the far post to make it 2-1 to the hosts before the half-time.

The second half started a little different, with goalkeeper Meret having to make a good save in order to avoid another equalizer for the visitors. However, after a few minutes, Napoli regained control and managed to increase their lead close to the end of the match. At the 78th minute, Fabian Ruiz found Younes at the far post and the number 34 used his head to put the ball into the back of the net.

With the 3-1 victory, Napoli reached 45 points and is in the 6th position. SPAL, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the table, with only 18 points.
