Due to the worldwide crisis brought by the Covid-19, football around the world has stopped. Now, some national leagues are already thinking about coming back and Denmark is among them. However, they will probably have behind closed doors matches, at least in this early phase of normal life returning.
For fans and players, it is a bad situation. The supporters won’t be able to see their team while the players will stay inside of an empty stadium where all you can hear are the voices of his teammates.
However, Denmark’s FC Midtjylland seemed to have found a temporary solution to this problem.
They are one of the biggest clubs in Denmark, and their idea is to put big screens inside their parking lot, at the MCH Arena in Herning. It has space for 12 thousand vehicles, but the club is thinking about opening only 2 thousand of them for cars and about 10 thousand fans to watch the match.
If the outcome is positive, the number of vehicles allowed will probably gradually increase.
With that, even with the doors closed, the fans will still be allowed to go to the stadium and watch the matches, even though they will be inside their cars. The atmosphere may not be the same, but for those who love being to a stadium, it is better than watching at home.
They also said that the new experience won’t be only for the fans of football, but also for the players. The club is planning to show the images of the parking lot inside the stadium, trying to create an atmosphere also for his players so they can pretend that they are performing for a big crowd and not for rows and rows of empty seats.
Honestly, it is an interesting idea and it may be a temporary solution for the clubs and fans to continue being together even in this difficult moment. For real, though… I can’t see the day we’ll go back to normality and watch the crowded stadiums once again!
