This Sunday morning, Everton hosted Manchester United at Goodison Park in matchday 28 in the Premier League. The Blues opened the scoring through Calvert-Lewin with just three minutes on the clock, after a bizarre howler by goalkeeper De Gea. However, Portuguese Bruno Fernandes leveled it up for the Red Devils.
The game started off busy, and Everton grabbed the opener on three minutes, following a howler from David De Gea. It was Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored for the Blues from Liverpool.
Soon after though, the Spanish goalkeeper redeemed himself by avoiding another goal for the hosts.
A few minutes later, United’s response came through Matic, who hit a beautiful left-footed finish onto Jordan Pickford’s crossbar. The equalizer came out in a mistake from Everton’s Sidibe, who gave Matic a true present, as the Serbian served Fernandes, who slotted home in a shot from long-range. 1-1.
Back from half-time, It was Everton who threatened, as they hit the post through Gylfi Sigurdsson from a free-kick. Brazilian Richarlison caught the rebound, but the ball went wide.
Jordan Pickford had his hero time, as he provided some incredible saves, especially against Bruno Fernandes, and Ighalo.
Later on, Everton kept on pressing, and eventually reached the winner, once again through Calvert-Lewin, but the VAR ruled it out.
The draw wasn’t really good for any of them.
Manchester United remains in 5th place, with 42 points. The same amount of points as Wolverhampton, but the Red Devils have a better goal difference. On the other hand, Everton equals Arsenal’s 37 points and remains in 11th place.
The Red Devils return to the field on Thursday, against Derby Country, for the FA Cup. The Toffees will face Chelsea only next Sunday, for the Premier League.
