This Friday, Norwich hosted Southampton at the Carrow Road Stadium in Premier League’s 30th Matchday. The Saints went on up to inflict a big defeat to Premier League’s rock-bottom side and did so, as they ended up grabbing a 3-0 away win. Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings opened the scoring, as Stuart Armstrong and Nathan Redmond completed the scoring.
Norwich didn’t count on their best players, Todd Cantwell and Teemu Pukki, who watched the match from the bench. Of course, it had an impact on the hosts’ performance.
The match began even at Carrow Road. Norwich had the first chance through Kenny McLean in the 6th-minute. The striker received the pass from Emiliano Buendia in the middle and finished from distance.
Then, it was time for the Saints to have their chances, and Ings was clearly their most dangerous player, as he even hit the post, but the first half was faded to end in a goalless draw.
In the second half, the Saints were clearly the most inspired side and paved their way to a 3-0 win. On 49 minutes, Armstrong gave it to Ings, who dribbled past a defender and slotted it home into the left corner.
Moments later, it was time for Armstrong to grab his goal, as he rounded a Norwich player and fired home from out of the box to the back of the net. At the end of the game, Michael Obamefi assisted Redmond, who hit it at the left corner to wrap it up for the visitors.
With the 3-0 home loss, Norwich kept in the 20th position in the Premier League. Their next match will be against Everton at home. The Saints moved to 13th and will take on the Gunners at home on Thursday.
