On the night of last Friday, Colon hosted Racing at the Cementerio de Elefantes Stadium in Argentine Superliga’s 20th matchweek.
The game was well balanced, with clear chances of goal for both sides. The fans had to wait up until the second half to celebrate a goal, from the visitors. When a Racing victory seemed certain, Colon went on and scored a late equalizer to rescue a point at home.
The match kicked off busy, with good chances for both sides. Surprisingly, even in the last positions of the table, Colon managed to attack and created more danger than Racing in the first half. Thus, the home team had a chance to open the scoring with an attempt from outside the area from Tomas Chancalay, but the goalkeeper made a good save.
Racing – or La Acade -, had some chances also, but the first half ended up with a square scoring.
Coming back from the break, Racing seemed the better side, and would soon break the deadlock. On 65 minutes, Matias Zaracho struck a shot into the top corner from Colon’s keeper, Leonardo Burian, and opened the scoring for La Acade. 0-1 Racing.
After the goal conceded, the home team kept on attacking in search of a draw. Thus, at 81′, after a corner kick, the ball was left for Colombian Wilson Morelo, who did not waste his chance and scored the equalizer for Colon. 1-1.
With the 1-1 draw, Colon remains in the 20th position with 18 points, however, they can lose some positions until the end of the matchday, depending on other results. The result wasn’t any good for Racing either, as they lost the chance to get closer to leaders River Plate. For matchday 21 in the Argentine league, Colon will travel to face Newell’s Old Boys, as Racing will face San Lorenzo, also away.
