According to rumors, Chelsea may be interested in Alex Telles. The 27-year-old Brazilian is currently playing for FC Porto, from Portugal, and is one of the highlights of the Dragons in the current season.
However, if the team led by manager Frank Lampard really wants the left-back, they will have to pay a lot of money. According to the Transfermark website, his current market value is around 40 million Euros. He would probably substitute Cesar Azpilicueta, who is the one playing on the left. He is already 30 years old, but, on the other hand, is the captain of Chelsea.
Alex Telles is a great player. His first team in Europe was Galatasaray, in Turkey, where he played 60 matches. After that, he went on loan to Internazionale, from Italy, where he played 22 games. In 2016, he arrived in Porto and, since then, he already played 183 matches with the Dragons, scoring 21 goals. This season, he played 40 matches and scored 9 goals.
With FC Porto, he won 2 titles, the Portuguese Championship in 2017/18 and the Portuguese Super Cup in 2019.
He is not a young star, that’s for sure, but Alex Telles’ season is great. Of course, this was not his best season for Porto, who are now fighting for the Portuguese League and the Portuguese Cup. But, in the national league, they are on the top of the table, 1 point clear of Benfica.
Certainly, the Brazilian is one of the key players for the Dragons. For Chelsea, he may be of great help, depending on what are the plans of manager Frank Lampard. He can put Azpilicueta as a center-back, or even as a defensive-midfielder and leave Telles as a left-back, or use the Brazilian as a midfielder. We’ll have to wait to see what will happen after the stoppage in European football.
