Amid the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, Chelsea is apparently having a busy transfer window this summer. After being linked with many options in the market, the Blues of Stamford is now keen on a deal with Leicester City’s defender Ben Chilwell.
It’s not going to be an easy task though. The Foxes are expecting to get at least 67 million pounds in an eventual selling of Chilwell, which can put Frank Lampard’s team plans to a halt due to the high price asked.
The Blues are reportedly willing to spend around € 50 million at maximum. In case they cannot land the English defender, Chelsea still monitor other names and might go for a move for Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, or Porto’s Alex Telles.
However, Chilwell is really the name desired by Frank Lampard.
Chilwell is one of the younger players in Leicester’s current squad. He’s been around the King Power Stadium since that famous 2015-16 season when Italian manager Claudio Ranieri conducted Leicester to an improbable Premier League title.
He’s played 118 games wearing the Foxes jersey, managing to score three goals and 12 assists. In addition, the full-back has been a starter in the last games of the England National Team, where he has played for 11 matches since September 2018.
About Chelse’s busy summer transfer window, they have already sealed a 40 million deal for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech. The deal was finished back in February, but they would have to wait up until the end of the season to count on the Moroccan winger.
They are also reportedly almost landing RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, with only a few things remaining to conclude the 60 million deal.
If they can land England International Ben Chilwell, we can expect to see Chelsea surely fighting for the Premier League title next season.
