Brighton welcomed Manchester United this Tuesday, for matchday 32 of the Premier League. At the Falmer Stadium, Bruno Fernandes had another great performance and led his team to a 3-0 victory. Two goals from the 25-year-old Portuguese and one from Mason Greenwood guaranteed the three points for the visitors.
The Red Devils started the first half with intensity. It was clear that they wanted the victory to continue their dream of getting to the Champions League next season. The pressure was big and they were giving the hosts no chances of having the ball. With that, it didn’t take long until they broke the deadlock. At the 16th minute, 18-year-old Greenwood went forward, entered the box, and sent a strong shot into the back of the net.
They doubled their lead a few minutes later. AT the 29th minute, Paul Pogba found Brunos Fernandes, who tried from outside the box and hit the bottom-right corner. No chances for goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.
Even with the 2-0 lead, the visitors didn’t relax in the second half. Already at the 50th minute, they were hitting the net again and increasing their lead. This time, Bruno Fernandes was assisted by Greenwood. After the perfect cross, the Portuguese hit a half-volley into the back of the goal.
After suffering the third goal, Brighton finally woke up and tried to attack. They had a good opportunity of scoring on a free-kick, but Yves Bissouma’s shot hit the crossbar. The other two chances they created stopped on the hand os goalkeeper David De Gea. So, the scoring didn’t change.
With the 3-0 victory, Manchester United moved up to 5th place, with 52 points, the same amount of points as 6th place Wolverhampton. Depending on the penalty City will have, they would be qualified for the Champions League. Meanwhile, Brighton stopped at 33 points, in 15th place.
