{:br}Maurizio Sarri’s days in charge of Chelsea seem to be coming to an end. At least according to the British press the Guardian and Telegraph. The two vehicles say that the Italian should be fired if he does not win the English League Cup final for Manchester City on Sunday at Wembley.
The “Telegraph” went further and even considered Sarri’s departure in case of elimination to Malmö on Thursday by the Europa League. In this case, something more unlikely, since Chelsea won the first leg in Sweden 2-1.
Unlikely… Not impossible though.
Apparently, Chelsea fans would be asking Sarri’s head as Chelsea hit their worst defeat in the League in years, as they lost 4-0 to Bournemouth away a couple weeks ago, lost 2-0 Manchester United at home in the FA Cup’s 5th round, and the most tragic one… They’ve got absolutely embarrassed by Manchester City in the Premier League, losing it for 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium – it was probably one of their worse defeats ever.
Not only that… There’s more to come… The situation may get even worse as the Blues hope to find out if:
Hazard will hand in a transfer request to go to Real Madrid
FIFA will ban Chelsea from signing for some windows
UEFA will ban their fans in the Europa League
The battle with former coach Antonio Conte goes to court
The ruling, according to the Guardian, will be taken over by owner Roman Abramovich, though he has not seen any games this season at Stamford Bridge. The Russian millionaire is famous for not being economical in firing managers.
On Monday, during the defeat for Manchester United, this seemed to be also the wish of the Blues crowd, who shouted at the expression “Sarriball” and chanted the Red Devils supporters chorus saying that he “would be fired the next morning “.
A little bit harsh on Sarri in my opinion. If we go back in time, we will see that Chelsea was fighting for the Premier League alongside Liverpool and City, and went unbeaten for more than 10 matches in this exactly Premier League. I think Chelsea fans should give Sarri a little bit more of time. Their club seems to have luck with Italian managers.
