This Wednesday, Braga welcomed Belenenses SAD for matchday 32 of the Liga NOS. At the Braga Municipal Stadium, the visitors were able to find a late goal and both teams shared points after a 1-1 draw. Ricardo Horta opened the scoring for the hosts while Mateo Cassierra equalized for the away side.
Playing at home, it was not a surprise when Braga already started searching for control. They were searching for the goal since the early minutes, only stopping at the good saves of goalkeeper Kouakou Koffi.
After trying so many shots, headers, and attempts, they were finally able to break the deadlock before the half-time. At the 42nd minute, Francisco Trincao found Ricardo Horta on the right, already inside the box, and the number 21 hit the ball into the back of the make the hosts go to the locker room with a small lead.
This didn’t really change during the second half. The home team kept creating opportunities and goalkeeper Koffi kept on making difficult saves. For those who thought that the number 16 was only avoiding a trashing, as the away side still didn’t have any shots on target, thought wrong. That’s because, on their only shot that was really on target, they were able to find the equalizer.
Already at the 80th minute, Tiago Esgaio had a lot of time on the right to think and cross into the box, straight on Cassierra’s head. The number 30 was alone in the middle of the box to hit the back of the net and steal at least one point.
With the 1-1 draw, Braga reached 57 points in 4th place, 2 points behind third-place Sporting. On the other hand, Belenenses reached 32 points, in 14th place. Even though they seem to be in the middle of the table, they are still fighting against relegation, as the 17th place, Vitoria FC, is just 2 points behind.
