Bolivia will have a difficult Copa America this 2019, once their first match will be against no one else than the home team, which is Brazil National Team. Now under the command of Eduardo Villegas, the Bolivians passed by a reformulation on their team and they bet that the “new blood” will give them a good trajectory on the competition, and they promise to give a difficult time to other teams and want to surprise everybody.
“We are going to have young players, with a lot of will. Sometimes young people are even more dangerous than experienced players,” said coach Villegas – who took over the place as a head coach earlier this month after becoming Bolivian champion for San José – to SporTV.
“It’s a privilege to debut against the hosts, we know it’s going to be a tough game, but we are hopeful of progressing in. I remember that in 1993 Bolivia came here and was able to get a draw with Brazil for the qualifiers,” he said.
Although the football scenario in Bolivia is not currently favorable, due to debt problems of the local federation, Villegas wants to take advantage of the continental competition so that the air can change within his national team.
“We have an important change of players. Some old ones are leaving the team. Our players are young, they want to consolidate, they have the potential and the Copa America is a chance for them,” he said.
“It’s a great privilege to be a part of the America’s Cup so well organized. Our motivation is really big, We will pass this to the players,” he concluded.
Bolivia, as well as Brazil, are both at Group A, together with Venezuela and Peru, and it is what people are calling – especially here in Brazil, the easiest group. The first match for the national team of Bolivia will be the one against Brazil, on the 14th of July.
The other groups are:
Group B
Argentina – Colombia – Paraguay – Qatar
Group C
Uruguay – Equador – Japan – Chile
