On Saturday night at the La Bombonera Stadium, Boca Juniors hosted Atletico Tucuman in Argentine Superliga’s 19th matchday. The game was busy, but in the end, the hosts could get away with the clean sheet and the three points in a 2-0 win. The goals were scored by Franco Soldano and Ramon Abila, from the penalty spot.
Following the 2-0 win, Boca reached 36 points and keeps on chasing Argentine Superliga leaders River Plate, who also has 36 points, but will still play in the matchday, on Sunday, against Union Santa Fe away.
There were only a few chances at the beginning of the match, as Boca was lacking some clinical edge to finish it off. However, everything changed on 22 mins, as Eduardo Salvio powered home from the middle and saw Lucochetti saving his shot. On the rebound though, the ball fell for Soldano, who opened the scoring. 1-0 Boca Juniors.
With the goal conceded, Tucuman had to take more risks and started attacking more. And they even scored after the half-hour mark, but their goal was ruled out.
After the break, Boca Juniors came back better and went on in search of the second goal. on top in search of the second goal. Soldano and Campuzano had both good chances wasted, as the visitors grew into the game. Leonardo Heredia even hit the post, but Tucuman stopped at it.
Boca’s winner came in on 90+5 mins. Following a good give-and-go between Obando and Abila, the latter was brought down inside of the box. Penalty awarded to Boca, as Abila himself stepped up to convert. 2-0 Boca.
Following the 2-0 win, Boca Juniors reached 36 points, as Tucuman stays with 27, in 11th place. Boca’s next game will be away against Central Cordoba, as Tucuman hosts Argentinos Juniors, in the 20th matchday of the Argentine league.
