Cologne and Bayern faced off at the RheinEnergieStadion. The Bavarians got to the pitch with the main goal of retaking the top spot of the Bundesliga, and with just 12 minutes into the first half, the visitors were already 3-0 up.
Furthermore, the Bavarians administrated the match and ended up winning 4-1. Robert Lewandowski, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry – twice -, scored for the visitors, as Mark Uth scored the consolation for Cologne.
Bayern started overpowering and opened the scoring within the third minute. Thomas Muller assisted Lewandowski, as the Pole scored in a classy left-footed effort. Two minutes later, it was time for Coman to get into the scoresheet. Once again, Muller was the playmaker and assisted the Frenchman, who controlled the ball and finished from six-yard under goalkeeper Timo Horn. 2-0 Bayern.
In the 12th minute, Kimmich connected with Gnabry from a corner, as the German striker controlled the ball and slotted home with his left foot. 3-0.
Cologne was of no threat in the first half, and Bayern took their feet off the accelerator.
On the return to the break, Cologne created more and improved in the match. However, in the 66th minute, Alphonso Davies picked out Gnabry, who scored a beautiful goal. 4-0 Bayern.
Four minutes later, the hosts grabbed the consolation though. Following a good give-and-go, Kainz assisted Uth, who just tapped in past Manuel Neuer. 1-4.
The hosts kept on trying to create more, but Neuer saved Bayern, as the game ended up like that.
With this important victory, Bayern regains the top of the Bundesliga, reaching 46 points in 22 matchdays. In contrast, Cologne is 13 places down, with just 23 points.
