According to the website Transfermarkt, Arsenal would be willing to sign the young Celtic FC’s defender Kristoffer Ajer.
We all know that the Gunners don’t have the best defensive system in the Premier League, with Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz, both always receiving complaints from the fans.
Mikel Arteta also understands that, and that’s is why he wants to make it stronger. His idea is to look at the young players while trying to rebuild Arsenal in the best way possible.
It’s being speculated that his eyes went to Ajer. The 22-year-old defender has already 150 games on his professional career and, since he came back from a small loan to Kilmarnock, he didn’t leave Celtic’s main squad.
That meant a lot for him, once since 2018, he is part of the National Team of Norway, where he already has 14 matches played.
The team from London, apparently, has a nice relationship with the giants of Glasgow, and that could be a massive boost in the business.
One year ago they brought the left-back Kieran Tierney from the Scottish team for 25M pounds. Apart from that, Celtic knows that it will be very difficult to keep the young player, once he is attracting attention in and outside the UK.
There are other two teams who set Kristoffer Ajer as a potential target: AC Milan, and Leicester. While the Italian team is trying to, just as Arsenal, rebuild their squad and go back to the glory times, Leicester could be a good option, as they lost Harry Maguire to Man United, and still needs a good reinforcement for the back,
However, Arsenal may still be ahead on the signing of the young defender. Milan is also a big club, but they are away from European competitions in the past years and that may be a problem for them.
Leicester were the champions of the Premier League back in 2016, but after that, they didn’t really improve. Among them, the Gunners are the ones that offer the best chances and can be the one chosen by Ajer for next season.
