The 26-year-old Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, who currently defends the colors of Italian Serie A club Napoli, has been calling attention from two Premier League sides: Manchester United and Arsenal. The Pole has been standing out in the current season for Napoli and is set to leave Italy for a Premier League challenge.
Reports coming from England say that Arsenal is currently leading the Milik transfer race, and it’s almost certain that they will top Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United to count on the Napoli player.
According to the Transfermarkt website, Milik’s price tag would be around 32 million euros, which is not that high for a striker who can offer so much as the Poland international.
Of course, we all need to be cautious about Arsenal signing anyone, as the club has been throwing in money lately, but hasn’t really been able to find the right players for the squad, as they brought names like Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dani Ceballos, and Nicolas Pepe, and they didn’t correspond to the expectations.
It would be harsh on them if I said they could be considered as flop signings though. They simply didn’t top the expectations, mainly from Arsenal fans.
So far this season, Milik has scored 9 goals in 16 Serie A TIM games and 3 UEFA Champions League goals in 4 matches. In the Coppa Italia, Milik played two games but didn’t score.
He could be an important player in coach Mikel Arteta’s system, as the Pole plays much more like a proper center-forward than as a versatile striker. Maybe you have never heard of him, and if it’s the case, it’s mainly because he hasn’t really played for a European giant – sorry Napoli – plus the fact that he’s always seen as Robert Lewandowski’s substitute in the Polish National Team.
If he can prove his worth at the hardest League in the world, he may overcome the Bayern Munich striker, who’s getting older, and become the next Polish goal-machine.
