Atletico Tucuman hosted Argentinos Juniors at Monumental Presidente Jose Fierro Stadium in the 20th matchday of the Argentine Superliga. The visitors confirmed their favoritism and beat the hosts 2-0, thanks to goals from Santiago Silva, from the penalty spot, and Gabriel Hauche. It wasn’t that easy though.
Tucuman created many difficulties for the visitors and should have secured at least a draw if it wasn’t for the fact that they had a player sent off in a key moment of the game in the second half, and then conceded twice.
The visitors showed that they wanted the three points since the first minutes and had their first good chance on three minutes through Elias Gomez in a finish from distance. Tucuman took control of the match from the quarter-hour mark and had chances through Matias Alustiza, Ramiro Carrera, and Augusto Lotti. However, Argentinos Juniors’ keeper was there to save the visitors as the first half ended up goalless.
In the second half, Argentinos Juniors came back better, and wasted a chance with Lopez, on 51 minutes. The key moment of the second half was in the 72nd minute, as Tucuman was reduced to 10-man as Leandro Diaz was sent off.
Ten minutes later, the visitors broke the halt through Santiago Silva. Gomez was brought down inside the area, as Silva took the penalty and scored from the spot. 0-1 Argentinos Juniors.
It didn’t take long and the visitors doubled their lead and sealed the deal. On 88 minutes, Nicolas Silva assisted Hauche, who slotted home with a strike into the left corner.
With the 2-0 away win, Argentinos Juniors moved up to the 3rd place in the table, and counts on 35 points. They’re only four points behind leaders River Plate, who will still play this weekend though. Tucuman is currently in the 13th position in the table, with 27 points.
