Barcelona was able to beat Levante by 2-1 this Sunday, at the Camp Nou, and keep the distance to leaders Real Madrid at only three points. The victory came thanks to the good performance of Ansu Fati, who scored both goals for the Catalan team. Ruben Rochina scored the only goal of the visitors.
Barcelona started showing that they wanted the victory, as we all expected, but the away team didn’t just keep watching. They also had their chances. After the 10th minute, however, all we could see was the home side having more and more chances. The goal was a matter of time.
At the 30th minute, the first one came. After Lionel Messi’s pass, Fati was there to take the ball and find the back of the net, past goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez.
One minute later, there he was again. The 17-year-old got another assist from the number 10 and fired home with his left foot. Fernandez could have made a comfortable save, but he allowed it to travel through his legs.
In the second half, Levante started to press more and got the consolation goal at the 90+2, with a little help from Ter Stegen. Rochina sent a powerful shot from the edge of the box and the ball deflected off Vezo. It was enough to distract Barcelona’s goalkeeper, who allowed the ball to spill through his hands and into the net.
The number 16 of Levante still had another chance at 90+4, which could level things up, but his left-footed effort went over the crossbar.
With the victory, Barcelona remains in second place, with 46 points, 3 behind Real Madrid. Levante also remains in the same position, the 13th place, with 26 points.
Before playing matchday 23 against Real Betis, away from home, the Catalan side will play the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey against Athletico Bilbao. Levante, on the other hand, will prepare for the next match of the Spanish Championship, where they will welcome Leganes, next Saturday.
