Playing this Saturday at the Camp Nou in La Liga’s Matchday 4, Barcelona hosted Valencia and grabbed a good 5-2 win. It was hard to find someone who could even dare to step up on Messi’s absence, but it seems like we have a name after this Saturday’s performance! We’re talking about the 16-years old Anssumane Fati, who scored once and assisted another. Frenkie de Jong, Pique, and Luis Suarez, twice, scored the other goals for the Catalans as Kevin Gameiro and Maximiliano Gomez scored for the visitors.
Barcelona opened the scoring less than two minutes into the match. After a right-wing move, De Jong fed Fati, who slotted home, making the Camp Nou erupts in joy. The 2-0 came almost in the same way, but this time, the roles were reversed. Following a good move from Fati, the youngster assisted De Jong, who got into the area and made it two.
Still, in the first half, Valencia reacted. Gameiro was picked out in behind the defense and finished into the corner to score. 2-1.
After the break, Barcelona was back at it, as Pique showed his striker skills. The defender capitalized on a rebounded ball to make it Barcelona 3-1. Suarez was introduced into the second half and scored twice. On 61 minutes, the Uruguayan striker got the ball at the edge of the area, created some space and slotted home a beautiful effort into the right corner. He made it five on 82 minutes, as he received from Antoine Griezmann and fired a low-effort from close range. 5-1.
Valencia scored on 90+2, through Gomez, but it surely did nothing to bother the Catalan party at the Camp Nou. Barcelona 5-2 Valencia.
With the win, Barcelona moved up to the fourth position, with seven points added, and seeks to recover after an unstable start of the competition. In the next round, Valverde’s team will visit Granada on Saturday.
