Facing a difficult situation in the Champions League, Ajax tries to hold themselves on a very important problem that their rivals will face during the second leg match for the round of 16. After losing at home by 2-1 to Real Madrid, the Dutch team will try this Tuesday to take advantage in the absence of the defender Sergio Ramos to win the match in the Spanish capital and go further on the competition.
Ajax head coach, Erik ten Hag, said during an interview this Monday, at the “Santiago Bernabéu” Stadium, that Real Madrid loses a lot without one of their main players. “It is a huge blast to Real Madrid. Modric and Kross are the bosses of the midfield, but Ramos is the leader of the defense. His absence will affect the team both on the physical and mental aspect”, he affirmed. Ramos got the second yellow card during the first leg match, in Amsterdam, and received an extra suspension for getting the card on purpose.
Ajax wants to make history with a victory against the Spanish side. For 16 years the Dutch team is not able to get on the quarter-finals of this tournament. “Our team is always a fighter. Our players are very ambitious”, said the manager.
They hope that Real Madrid will not play holding the result they got on the first match. Based on the analysis made by the Dutch coach, the current champions of the UCL will probably try to make pressure, especially after the two recent defeats for their main rival, Barcelona, both in the “Copa del Rey” and the Spanish Championship.
“Obviously they want to win a trophy this season and the Champions League is their last chance. As this tournament is what they have left, they will probably have a different attitude on the pitch. Our players will have to fight a lot to make Ajax keep on the competition”, he completed.
The first match in the Netherlands was a good one, with both teams having chances. Now, in Spain, Real Madrid will try to show their favoritism, while Ajax will try to surprise the world and give the “Merengues” another reason to hate this current season.
