It seems like a title of days of the innocent but not, Milan was reunited with the three points after five league matches without victories and with a goal drought that lasted for four days. A negative streak that involved hard to Higuaín, who scored after two months and nine games of waiting.
The argentinian Gonzalo Higuaín ended this Saturday with a 720-minute goal drought in Serie A and gave Milan a 2-1 win over Ferrara’s SPAL, in a match in which the spanish Samu Castillejo also scored.
The encounter in San Siro started in the worst way, as Spal took its first opportunity to get ahead thanks to Andrea Petagna at 13′. However, the reaction of the locals was not long in coming and three minutes later Samu Castillejo celebrated his second league goal, taking advantage of a serious defensive failure of Filippo Costa. The Andalusian had not scored since September 30, in a 4-1 to Sassuolo.
Milan insisted on the search for the winning goal but as usual Pipita continued to fail, which caused whistles from all over the San Siro against them. Whistles that would turn into applause when the argentinian forward received a great assistance from the turkish Hakan Calhanoglu in the area and ended his drought with a tremendous right that rose 2-1 to the scoreboard and liberated Higuain from frustration.
Finally, Milan added a transcendental triumph, to place fifth to a single point away from Lazio, fourth, which did not pass the 1-1 on Saturday against Torino.
Serie A will now have a three-week hiatus and will return on January 19. A week earlier, the Italian Cup Round of 16 will be played, while Milan and Juventus will decide the Italian Super Cup on January 16.
