AC Milan is in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia. This Tuesday, the Rossoneri team beat Torino 4-2 at San Siro and booked their place in the top four of the domestic cup. Giacomo Bonaventura, Hakan Calhanoglu – netting twice – and Swede star Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored for the home team. Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer scored both goals for Torino.
Following an emotional pre-kick-off, with various banners and songs for NBA Legend and AC Milan supporter, Kobe Bryant, who recently passed in a tragic helicopter crash in Los Angeles, AC Milan started with all they got and broke the halt with 12 on the clock through Bonaventura.
However, Bremer would soon show that he was up to make the night even sadder for AC Milan fans.
On 34 mins, the Brazilian defender equalized it, and after half-time, he was at it once again to make it two and turn things around for visitors on 71′.
Turkish Calhanoglu stepped up to score a 90+1 minute goal to take everything into extra time.
And then, the hosts were lethal. On 106 mins, Calhanoglu scored once again, as two mins later, Ibra netted to wrap it up and put AC Milan into Italian Cup Semifinals.
In search of a place into the final, Milan’s opponents will be nothing else than arch-rivals Juventus. However, from this stage on, the rules of the Coppa Italia are different. The games will now be a two-leg clash. AC Milan will play the first leg at home, as Juventus will decide at home.
Stefano Pioli’s team is in a good moment of the season and hasn’t lost in six matches. Next weekend, the Rossoneri side will face Hellas Verona, Sunday, once more at the San Siro in a matchday in the Italian Serie A.
