For matchday 25 of the English Premier League, Everton visited Watford and was able to get an amazing comeback. Being 2-0 down and, later, down to 10 players, the Toffees got a 3-2 victory thanks to the two goals of Yerry Mina and the late goal from Theo Walcott. Adam Masina and Roberto Pereyra scored for the home team.
Things started early in the game. At the 9th minute, Watford opened the scoring. Deulofeu got the ball on the left flank and passed it to Masina. The number 11 then took an excellent first touch before striking his effort into the bottom corner of the net.
Honestly, Everton’s first half wasn’t that good and the home side kept on pressing. At the 42nd minute, they doubled the scoring with Pereyra. The number 37 received a pass from Deeney and swept his effort into the top left corner from inside the box.
When everybody thought the first half was done, Yerry Mina appeared two times to level things and put the visitors once again in the game. At 45+1, the number 13 reacted faster and poked the rebound from Holgate’s shot.
3 minutes later, Sigurdsson whipped an excellent delivery deep into the box and Mina was there to send a powerful header into the back of the net. 2-2 and all the second half to go.
Everton came back to the pitch believing they could get the three points and in the early minutes had good chances. However, time went by and none of the teams were being able to score.
Making things harder for the visitors, the Blues of Liverpool saw Fabian Delph receive the second yellow card and had to play the final minutes down to 10-man.
Even with one more, Watford didn’t show that much strength. The Toffees were doing a good job defending and, surprisingly, at the 90th minute, they were able to find the third goal. Walcott received a pass from Kean and squeezed the ball home from a tight angle to make the comeback. 3-2 Everton.
With the 3 points, Everton moved up to the 9th position, with 33 points, just two away from Wolves and United (8th and 7th place). Watford remains in the 19th position, with 23 points, 2 less than Aston Villa, the first outside the relegation zone.
