After the whole euphoria and extremely high expectations, Barcelona fans are highly disappointed with Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian midfielder was one of the most expensive signings in Barca history. Coutinho came from Liverpool, as Barcelona paid more than $120 million dollars just to count with the player. He even played some games well, but could never repeat what he did in England. Soon, the relation between Coutinho and Barcelona supporters became a love-hate story, and the players are even getting booed throughout some matches in the Camp Nou. Furthermore, there are some speculations on a possible move from Spain to England or France.
Some reports coming from Spain suggest that Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG would be interested in the Brazilian player. Seems like the favorite to sign the Brazilian is the French club, much due to Neymar reasons, as he is good friends with Coutinho. Also, a lack of quality in the midfield sector in the French club would be extremely positive for Barca’s number 7, who is being kinda playing under the shadow of Lionel Messi.
He would also fit into Man United’s starter team, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unhappy with Paul Pogba. The Blues from London are the less probable destiny, as they are banned from signing for a two-year-period for breaking transfers rules. Surely there is also the possibility of him staying, as Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde said. I also don’t see Coutinho making a comeback to England, where he shined at Liverpool. The Brazilian player has been given the number 10 in the Reds and improved his deadly finish skills with legendary Steven Gerrard.
We all need to see how Liverpool fans will welcome Coutinho at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League Semifinals. The Brazilian departure from Liverpool was very conturbed, as he apparently faked a back injury and also handed in a transfer request to the Liverpool staff. He’s considered a traitor and called a Judas amongst Liverpool supporters.
The question is… Is Coutinho a fraud? I don’t really think he is. However, he is not World Class, as many claimed. I think he’s made maybe his worst decision leaving Liverpool to go to Barcelona. The Catalan club has already a king who plays in the same sector as him. Maybe at PSG, he would have more chances. We shall see what is going to happen in the next European window transfer.
