This Sunday, Bayern hosted Augsburg at the Allianz Arena in Bundesliga’s matchday 25. The Bavarians counted on goals from Germans Thomas Muller and Leon Goretzka to snatch a 2-0 win at home and are now four points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.

At least we still have a title race in Germany, right?

The first half started off with both sides uninspired. The outcome was a boring goalless draw in the first 45 minutes. The clearest chance came on 44 minutes, through Muller, as he collected a pass from Serge Gnabry, but squandered his effort over the bar.

We had a completely different game after the break. The Bavarians were doing a high-pressing mark and pushed hard for the opener. It came on 53 minutes, as Jerome Boateng picked Muller out off a long-ball as the German striker struck a first-time effort with his left foot to break the deadlock. 1-0 Bayern Munich.

Bayern kept on searching for their second goal and even did well, but the Augsburg keeper was having an inspired day, as he pulled off some miraculous saves, such as in Gnabry and Philippe Coutinho’s finishes.

However, he could do nothing with 90+1 minutes. After a give-and-go from the duo Gnabry-Goretzka, the latter one was triggered down the right side of the area, doubled the German lead. 2-0 Bayern Munich.

With the easy win over Augsburg, Bayern is leaders of the Bundesliga with 55 points added and their next appointment is next Saturday, against Union Berlin in matchday 26 in the league. Meanwhile, Augsburg is close to the relegation zone with 27 points and will try to put themselves together on Sunday against Wolfsburg at home.
